Our main story in this edition is that we have been reawarded the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge for our school sports trips. This months Festival Spotlight is the Bournemouth Mini and Junior Rugby Festival. We look at why Malta is such a brilliant destination for cricket tours, and have feedback from the University of St Andrews WFC Football tour to Cyprus. Finally this month's tour section is a follow up from our teams visit to the World Travel Market.
Burleigh Travel get top marks for school trips
Following an annual audit and assessment by the School Travel Forum we have shown ourselves to be at the top of the class for school trips by being reawarded the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge.
Awarded by the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom, the LOtC Quality Badge combines, for the first time, learning and safety into one easily recognisable badge for all organisations providing learning outside the classroom experiences.
Elaine Skates, Chief Executive of CLOtC said:
“School trips are among the most memorable experiences in a child’s school life. The LOtC Quality Badge offers teachers a guarantee that not only is a company providing the sort of educational value that they can build on in class long after the trip but they also have the appropriate risk management structures in place.
Learning outside the classroom has many proven educational benefits. The LOtC Quality Badge will reduce red tape and provide assurance for schools, thereby ensuring that many more young people have memorable, exciting and valuable learning outside the classroom experiences.
I congratulate Burleigh Travel on being awarded the LOtC Quality Badge.”

Festival Spotlight - The Bournemouth Mini and Junior Rugby Festival

The Bournemouth Mini and Junior Rugby Festival returns in 2017 to the beautiful seaside resort on the southern coast. It is one of the largest and most established rugby festivals in the UK and last year had nearly 120 Mini and approximately 40 Junior teams competing.

The Junior teams kick off the weekends action on Saturday in the impressive grounds of Bournemouth Rugby Club. Your team will compete in groups in a round robin format ensuring that your team will play as much rugby as they are allowed to play in a one day festival in line with RFU guidelines.

Tour Spotlight - Cricket Tours to Malta
The island of Malta is still one of Europe's hidden treasures in terms of a sports tour destination. With 300 days of sun a year and the fact it is surrounded by some of the clearest blue seas in the Mediterranean would make it a perfect tour destination alone, but add in some of the best snorkelling and diving in the Mediterranean, its welcoming culture, fantastic food and unbelievable history and you have a destination not to be missed.
Malta offers a wonderful blend of old meets new. It has the greatest density of historic sights of any other country spanning 7,000 years but is also swiftly becoming one of the major clubbing and music hubs, that often play host to some of the world's most renowned DJs.
Most of our senior sides stay in St Julians, a lively coastal resort, while our junior teams prefer Sliema on the North East coast.
Sports Tour Feedback - University of St Andrews WFC Football tour to Cyprus
Following their very successful football tour to Lloret de Mar in 2015 the St Andrew's WFC were keen to travel with us again, this time to the beautiful island of Cyprus. The team faces two tough but enjoyable fixtures during their tour, and enjoyed the gorgeous climate and beaches Cyprus has to offer. We look forward to helping organise their next tour in 2017.
"I am writing to thank you for organizing the most amazing tour our club has ever been on. All the girls had such a great time and cannot stop raving about our week. The hotel was exactly what we had wished for- relaxing in the sun, all-inclusive drinks and food, and close to nightlife. Everyone enjoyed the matches; they were a challenge but our opponents were very friendly and it was a great experience adorned by all. Cyprus was absolutely beautiful and hopefully we will be able to return one day. Again, thank you for all your hard work, I really appreciate everything you did for us. We will definitely be using your company for our tour next year!"
We have always prided ourselves on providing the best tours and services available to our groups. In light of this some of our team attended the World Travel Market in London on Wednesday.
We spoke to travel boards and suppliers, both new and old, to make sure we were offering the best destinations, accommodation options, activities and transport for all of our tours and trips. One of the brilliant new attractions we found was the IMG Worlds of Adventure in Dubai which is the world's largest indoor theme park.
