GENERAL
INFORMATION
This was a 12-day tour based on the west coast of this friendly island.
The cricket club were located in air-conditioned apartments on a complex
that has a pool, restaurant, bar, supermarket and evening entertainment.
Barbados offers an irresistible mix of laid-back Bajan lifestyle,
where the tropical sun is fanned by the trade winds together with
a host of sandy beaches dotted along the coastline. It used to be
known as “Little England” and although the island has
enjoyed 30 years of independence a warm welcome is always shown to
its British visitors and its passion for cricket is unrivalled. It
also has an incredible nightlife with many venues such as the “Boat
Yard” and “Harbour Lights” offering free drink promotion
nights once an £10 - £12 admission fee is paid.
MONDAY 20TH JANUARY
The first day of the tour and having assembled at Gatwick the flight
to Barbados took approximately 8 hours, arriving on the island at
15.30 hours local time. The party was met by a Burleigh Travel representative
who gave them a welcome meeting and took them to the local beach
bar so they could witness their first Bajan sunset.

This was a leisurely day to
unwind from the previous days travel. The many nearby beaches provided
a perfect backdrop for a relaxing first day of the tour.
A game of beach cricket is a great way to prepare for the first fixture.

LAUGHTON
CC vs Maxwell CC
Despite losing this 30 over match the opposition’s hospitality
was excellent with the added bonus of very cheap Banks’ beer.
The locals had great delight in also beating the tourists in a
very vocal game of dominoes.

Today some of the group took
a guided tour of the island. They were picked up after breakfast and
visited some of the most intriguing sites on the island with the driver
stopping en-route to provide some education into the islands history.
When the tour was completed they were transferred to the “Boat
Yard”, a unique beach front location. Here they were able to
enjoy water trampolining, canoeing/kayaking and snorkelling, as well
as lunch and unlimited drinks.

takes in some of the most breathtaking sights of the island.
This off-road safari visits places such as Edge Cliff, Bathsheba,
and Joe’s River Forest as well as many stops such as two on
