BARBADOS-GENERAL
INFORMATION The group enjoyed a 16-day tour based on the South coast of this friendly Island. Barbados offers an irresistible mix of laid-back Bajan lifestyle, where the tropical sun is fanned by the trade winds together with a host of sandy beaches dotted along the coastline. It used to be known as “Little England” and although the island has enjoyed 30 years of independence a warm welcome is always shown to its British visitors. Its passion for sport is always evident and competitive games can always be arranged. |

| THE NETBALL | |||||||||||||
|
Travelling with ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams meant that a wide selection
of players could experience the enthusiasm of Barbadian netball. A
total of 10 matches were arranged by Burleigh Travel and the tourists
competed successfully obtaining a share in victories and near losses
with their hosts. The Widnes and Runcorn players competed throughout
and approached each game with enthusiasm and were a credit to themselves
and their College. |

SERIOUS
ABOUT SPORT…. As in any sports tour the reason that Widnes and Runcorn 6th Form College travelled to Barbados was to play netball and this was taken extremely seriously by the staff an players alike. Training sessions were arranged by Burleigh Travel at the National Netball Stadium and yoga sessions formed part of the daily routine throughout the tour. As you can see from the pictures below all players were extremely proud to represent their College in the sporting arena. |
