THURSDAY JULY 25TH
Koala
Hosts dropped their guests off at Corpus Christi in the morning before they were collected by coach to enjoy a day trip to Cohunu Koala Park. The park is situated high up in the Darling Range with unique unobstructed views overlooking the beautiful city of Perth and beyond the Indian Ocean. The group had the opportunity to stroll along the pathways around the park and hand feed some of the 100 kangaroos, see wombats in their tunnels, wild Australian dingoes, talking parrots, migratory birds, emus and take a walk through the giant bird aviary. They could also enjoy a fabulous lunch prepared by expert chefs in the unique Koalas View revolving Restaurant. For the perfect souvenir and an exciting experience, Cohunu recommended an instant photo holding one of the cuddly koalas, which I am sure was a popular choice with most.
In the evening the rugby players had their second outing in Western Australia. Host families transferred the players directly to Palmyra RC where the match was played at Tomkins Park Melville, which was the base for the British Lions when they toured Australia in 2001. This was a flood lit match.
