Alex has recently joined the team at Burleigh travel following the completion of his degree at Cardiff University. Growing up, football has always been his main sport, playing all through school and including playing academy level in Bristol up until U16. Alex played in tournaments across Europe and the UK during his teens and competed against some of the top academies around the globe – this touring experience has driven his desire to continue into the working wold of sport, and he saw Burleigh Travel as the perfect opportunity to do so.
After finishing his A-Levels at sixth form in Bristol, Alex took a year out to pursue a career in the music industry (Alex is a drummer). Along with his band they were signed to a development label and spent a year recording their music and playing shows around the South-West. When the end of the year came, they decided to put the music on-hold and take up their places at University. They spent the last few weeks of their year interrailing around Europe, and stopped off in Budapest, Vienna, Munich, Berlin and Amsterdam!
Alex studied Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies at Cardiff University, and played football for his course’s team, known as Paris Saint JOMEC. Despite the long drives, Alex also continues to religiously follow his hometown club-team Watford, and travels to several games a season – he also went to watch the 2016 Euros in France, and saw 4 different games, including England Vs Slovakia!
Favourite Sports Tour Destination:
“The stand-out destination for me is without doubt Holland. The quality of football was great, and the local people were all so friendly/welcoming to us.”
Most Memorable Sports Tour Experience:
“When I was 17 we went on football tour to Milan and went to watch Inter Milan Vs Verona at the San Siro stadium! We were sat in front of the away fans and had people throwing empty bottles/cups at us for most of the game – despite this the actual football was brilliant, finishing 4-2 to Inter! We also had a day at a nearby water park and managed to sample every bar they had on-site, which made some of the rollercoasters a little more interesting!”
