Campsmount College spent 11 days in Canada on their football tour, spending time Toronto and Niagara. They had 4 fixtures on the tour, and remained unbeaten throughout! Their itinerary also had a number of trips such as a day out to Wonderland Theme Park, watching an American football match at the Rogers Centre and sailed on the Maid of the Mist! It sounds like they all had an amazing time, and Ben, the tour organiser, was kind enough to write a report when they returned.
“So, I have finally found some time to get back to you about how our trip went.
The flight was very good on the way out but average on the way back. The problem on the way back was that it was overnight and there was very little chance to get to sleep. However, this was the only problem either way which is pretty good. The buses that we used throughout the tour were excellent as were the drivers. They often commented about our quality as a group.
Bond Place is a very nice hotel and ideally located. They were very accommodating and seemed to deal with a large group very well. Breakfast was adequate for the day’s activities but we were not that impressed with the dinner we had first night. Mainly because we did not get everything that we had prearranged. However, at that time and after a long journey, we would have eaten anything! Lundy’s Lane hotel was great also. The rooms were superb as far as size went and the breakfast was once again adequate for what we were doing in the day. The location was a little far out but with the bus service, this was not a problem. The pool and Jacuzzi were a welcome addition also.
The games that we played were outstanding and the hospitality was second to none. The Canadians were fantastic people and very keen to prove that (as they did not want to be seen as Americans!). The standard was very well matched and all in all the students had a brilliant experience playing and socializing with these clubs. Plus, my team was unbeaten!!!
All of our excursions were tremendous, including those organized by ourselves. The Argos game is a brilliant experience. All of the meals that we set up were great too, including the restaurant that only seemed to employ extremely good-looking waitresses!!! The lads really enjoyed this evening!
All in all, I have to say that it was the best trip that I have ever run and certainly the best that I have been on. It’s just good that we have all of our memories! I am not running trips any more as Canada was my ‘go out with a bang’ final trip. I am chuffed to bits that it was as successful as it was and that we were able to work closely to make it so. I have passed on your details to the other members of the PE department with a recommendation that they use you again in the future. I am sure that they will contact you for quotes when we next run a trip.
Many thanks for your personal help over the last couple of years. Your assistance is much appreciated.
Yours in football,
