COVENTRY UNIVERSITY RFC TOUR TO EASTERN CANADA
The group enjoyed a twelve day tour to Canada, experiencing its natural wonders and wide open spaces. They visited Toronto, Canada’s largest city and Ottawa, the capital where they participated in the two-day Ottawa Indian’s Rugby Festival.
Ottawa is home to the Parliament Buildings with their evening light show, and also offers cruises along the Rideau Canal to see the city from a different perspective. For the more adventurous group, Ottawa offers the chance to go white water rafting in the Canadian wilderness.
The CN Tower (which at the time was the world’s tallest freestanding structure) dominates the skyline in Toronto, and a trip up to the glass floor is a must-do for anyone visiting the city. The group made use of the Docks Complex with its multitude of activities, as well as visiting the popular Entertainment District on a regular basis to sample the many restaurants, bars and clubs.
Coventry University Rugby Team took part in the Ottawa Indian’s Rugby Festival where, despite playing some excellent rugby, they were closely defeated in the group stages. Despite this, they visited the club on finals day to watch the qualifying teams play out the tournament, where the air-conditioned bar, beer garden and evening social events were appreciated.
In Toronto, Coventry University Rugby Team took on Toronto University RFC and restored some pride, coming out on top by just one try in a closely matched fixture.
