John Fisher School Cricket Tour & Coaching Clinic to Barbados 2002
The group enjoyed a tour to Barbados, experiencing an irresistible mix of laid-back Bajan lifestyle, where the tropical sun is fanned by the trade winds together with a host of sandy beaches dotted along the coastline. It used to be known as “Little England” and although the island has enjoyed over 30 years of independence a warm welcome is always shown to its British visitors. Our liaison with Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes ensured that the team benefited from expert tuition and carefully selected opposition while enjoying all that Barbados had to offer.
The group enjoyed 2 coaching days and a Q&A session with Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes, as well as 3 cricket fixtures during their tour to Barbados. They won their first 2 fixtures, with a close defeat in the 3rd, however it was testament to the excellent coaching clinics that the team morale didn’t drop after this loss.
The group used the final match to make a donation of kit to the National Sports Council, on behalf of John Fisher School, which was gratefully received.
The group also spent some time relaxing during their tour, and were able to visit the Kensington Oval for a tour, as well as ‘The Boatyard’ where they enjoyed kayaking, snorkelling and the water trampolines, as well as lunch and drinks. Their final day trip was the ‘must-do’ Catamaran cruise, where they were able to snorkel with turtles as well as sun bathe on the deck and enjoy the BBQ lunch and unlimited drinks.
