School Football Tour to Canada: Widnes & Runcorn 6th Form College

WIDNES & RUNCORN 6TH FORM COLLEGE FOOTBALL TOUR TO EASTERN CANADA

This 15-day football tour to Canada saw the group visit three of Canada’s spectacular destinations; Toronto, Ottawa and Niagara.

Toronto is Canada’s largest city, but still allows tourists to walk to all of the main sights such as the CN Tower and the Roger’s Centre, home of the Blue Jays Baseball and Argonauts American Football teams.  Ottawa is the capital city of Canada, and is famous for its Parliment buildings, the Byward Market and the historic Rideau Canal.  The final stop was Niagara, home of the magnificent Horseshoe Falls and this allowed the group to view this natural wonder up close.

During their sports tour to Canada, the group played several fixtures across the two sports which travelled together; netball and football.  The hard fought contests were thoroughly enjoyed by all the participants.  Both teams were welcomed by their hosts and enjoyed spending time with them after their matches.

One of the highlights of the tour was watching the Toronto Blue Jays play baseball at the Roger’s Center in Toronto.  Within walking distance from the hotel, and with tickets available at very reasonable prices, this is an excellent activity for any group.  Watching North American sports live has to be seen to be believed, with the National Anthems sung at the start, entertainment throughout, and not forgetting the game itself!

The group also had a full day of white water rafting, deep in the Canadian wilderness.  Lunch was enjoyed on the banks of the river, and the expert guides ensured that everyone got the most out of the adrenaline packed day!

Niagara gave the opportunity for the group to experience the sheer power and force of the world-famous Horseshoe Falls.  A trip on the Maid of the Mist boat, which takes you as close as you can get to the foot of the falls without actually entering the water, is a must in this destination.
