Durham University football team enjoyed a very successful three night tour over to Dublin. During their time in Ireland’s famous capital they enjoyed two fixtures against local teams and a tour of the Guinness factory. Dublin if a fantastic setting for a university sports tour, with a vibrant nightlife and very social host teams.
Due to the location of their University the team decided to fly over to Dublin. This is a good option, and flights are often cheap. But a coach and ferry option is available. Arriving into Dublin airport they were met by their coach driver who took them to their centrally located hostel. Arriving in the early afternoon they had plenty of time to check in and then head out to explore the pubs and clubs.
With a few sore heads, the team awoke the next day for a breakfast before having the day free for sightseeing. Their coach then picked them up at half 5 and took them to play Arthur Griffith Park FC in a 7pm fixture. The tourist suffered a defeat but complimented their opposition for the fantastic post match hospitality.
The next day was laid out the same, with a free day to explore and take a tour of the Guinness factory, the team had another evening match against Maynooth Town FC. Unfortunately tour life was catching up on them and they suffered their second defeat, but once again were able to enjoy some post match beers with the team. The guys then headed back to the hostel for their final night out in Dublin.
