Junior Rugby Tour to Canada
During their junior rugby tour to Canada, the players of Barnstaple Rugby Club U16’s were able to visit both Toronto and Niagara during their 8 night tour. They were based in Toronto for the majority of the tour with trips arranged to Niagara Falls so they were able to take a trip on the Maid of the Mist boat trip as well as complete the breathtaking Journey Behind the Falls.
The group really enjoyed the fact that they had a genuine yellow school bus for transfers to and from their tour rugby matches and thought that this was a unique touch to the tour. Their accommodation provided the group with an excellent base for the whole tour and the host clubs were very welcoming to the British Tourists and the hospitality they showed was simply outstanding. Each match was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who participated.
Shortly before the end of the rugby tour the team were able to travel to the Rogers Centre to watch the Toronto Blue Jays v the Cleveland Indians in an awesome baseball match – an experience that none of the junior rugby team had ever had before, a real highlight!
The additional day trips the team chose to include in their junior rugby tour allowed them to experience many aspects of Canada that simply will remain with them long after they have returned home, and would strongly recommend to any other teams planning a junior rugby tour to Canada.
