Penryn spent five nights in Chioggia, Italy where they had two amazing fixtures, a day in Venice and a day at Gardaland Theme Park.
The team set off from Gatwick airport on Sunday, arriving into Venice Marco Polo airport in the early evening. Their coach took them to their hotel in Chioggia where they had a group dinner booked.
On Monday morning a trip to Venice by water taxi was planned, with the team having the day free to explore this amazing city. Some highlights include the Doges’ Palace, Canal Grande, Basilica di San Marco and St. Mark’s Square.
On Tuesday the team had the morning free to explore, before their first match against FTGI Eugenai ASD. This fixture was one of the tours highlights as all the clubs mini and junior teams came out to watch, with music, flags and even a red carpet for the team. The oppositions parents came down with food for a large post match buffet. The boys made some lifelong friends and won’t forget the game.
On Wednesday the team spent the day at Gardaland Theme Park, one of Italy’s best theme parks. Their tickets gave them access to both the Theme Park and Sea Life Aquarium.
Thursday was the team’s second fixture with a game against local side Villorba RFC. This was another good match and Penryn led at the half, only to loose by a small margin. After the game they enjoyed some more brilliant Italian hospitality.
After a brilliant week in Italy the team headed home.
