General Rugby Festival Information
The Abergavenny Youth Rugby Festival is held annually over the first May Bank Holiday. Your club will be based in Trecco Bay Holiday Park, here you will have the variety of on site facilities here for your use. An example of the on site facilities are; Indoor pool and play area, Outdoors wet adventure area, Bowling and Crazy golf. You will also have access to the brilliant on site evening entertainment.
This itinerary is appropriate for teams aged U7 – U14, but the festival is also available for U15 & U16 teams based on alternative accommodation – please contact us for details.
If you are looking to head off site, the park is located a stone’s throw away from a Blue Flag Beach. Here you will be able to enjoy the beautiful coastline by playing on the sand, where you can run a training session if you wish. You will also have the opportunity to explore nearby town Porthcawl and also the Welsh capital Cardiff where a stadium tour of the Principality Stadium is a popular option along with a visit to the International White-Water Centre or the nearby Taff Valley activity centre to enjoy activities like quad biking or archery.
Your Rugby Tour Itinerary
Friday 30th April 2021
You will depart your club and travel to the holiday park. Once checked in you will then have the remainder of the day and night free to explore the park and use your leisure and entertainment passes.
Saturday 1st May 2021
This is the junior rugby day of competition, (U13-U14) at the Abergavenny Rugby Festival. Your players can expect to play as much rugby as they are permitted under the WRU Pathway. There will be food on sale throughout the event as well as a fully licensed bar open into the evening.
Mini age groups, (U7-U12) will have a day at leisure when you will have time to take advantage of the parks on site amenities, if you were to want to travel of site we would recommend visiting the local town of Porthcawl. If you are feeling very adventurous you could go for a swim at the brilliant local Blue Flag beach which is on the doorstep of the holiday park. Alternatively, a friendly fixture can be arrranged for those with large enough squads.
Sunday 2nd May 2021
Mini rugby age groups will depart the holiday park and travel to the Abergavenny RFC where you will spend the majority of the day competing at the Abergavenny Mini Rugby Festival. Your players can also expect to play as much rugby as they are permitted under the WRU Pathway. There will be food on sale throughout the event as well as a fully licensed bar open into the evening.
Junior age groups will have a free day where you may wish to spend the day on the beach or visit nearby Cardiff to enjoy a tour of the Principality Stadium. Alternatively a friendly fixture can be arranged if required for those with large enough squads.
Monday 3rd May 2021
Once you have checked out of the holiday park the day will free to spend at your leisure where a visit to the Principality Stadium is highly recommended before preparing for your journey home.
