Tour Summary
The ‘Devon Big Bash’ is one of our biggest festivals and is attended
by around 100 teams each year who enjoy a rugby filled day at
Ivybridge Rugby Club, joined by local and other touring teams.
The festival is held over the popular first May Bank Holiday
weekend, and as such always sells out very early on.
To enable us to cater for all types of touring parties, you will see we
have included two types of accommodation options for you:
Firstly, we are pleased to offer you an adrenaline based 3 day stay
at the PGL Barton Hall Centre in Torquay. This will provide your
group with a full activity programme, evening entertainment, a
fully licensed bar and all your meals included in your stay.
Alternatively we also offer a selection of 4 day Holiday Park options
in units with self-catering facilities, an onsite restaurant and bar,
and activities such as a large indoor heated pool, amusement
arcade and live evening entertainment in the clubhouse.

Option 2 your group will stay in centrally located Hotel Accommodation in Harrogate, less than 15-minutes from the festival venue. You will have en-suite rooms, with access to a variety of opportunities and restaurants right on your doorstep.
Your 2-night stay will give your group the opportunity to explore the local surroundings and nearby attractions such as Lighwater Valley Theme Park or Parthian Climbing Centre.

Option 3 – your group can stay in centrally located Hotel Accommodation in York. You will have en-suite rooms, with access to a variety of opportunities and restaurants right on your doorstep.
Your 2-night stay will give your group the opportunity to explore the local surroundings and nearby attractions.

Located nearby, set in a beautiful large wooded area and offering eight huge game zones to all eager players this would be a great activity for your team. Game zones featuring a vast stone pyramid set behind four large Mummy statues, an 80′ long Russian rocket (on an original Cold War era Soviet launch vehicle) and much more!
Amazing game zones, state-of-the-art equipment and welcoming staff will ensure that you will have the best paintball experience ever.

If you’re staying in Leeds (subject to fixture schedules) you could look to arrange watching Leeds Rhinos as part of your tour. To experience top level rugby league!

On your free day we suggest a visit to Allerthorpe Lakeland Water Park is a great option for your group as it offers a variety of water sports options and host to an inflatable aqua park which is great for your players to take part in some team building activities off the rugby pitch.

Each of the players will receive a number of exciting activities as part of their tour package, which we will schedule around your rugby festival. These include a wide range of thrilling adventure activities, with something to suit everyone.
The activities will be lead by experienced instructors who know how to bring out the best in each individual giving you confidence to relax in the knowledge that your players are in safe hand.

Whilst for many playing rugby is the highlight of your tour, it is also a fantastic opportunity to enjoy unique activities together with your team mates and Unity Holiday Park offer a variety of these that you can pre-book for your group to enjoy such as the Ten Pin Bowling Alley and the Pump Track for BMX and Scooters to name a few. In addition Burleigh Travel can help arrange exclusive discounts to the nearby Theme Park, Splash Waterpark and other nearby attractions.

Activities will include, Capture the flag, Campfires, Ambush and PGL Sports night! All of which is supervised by the qualified and enthusiastic PGL team. Allowing the adults time to socialise together.

There is plenty to do to at your Holiday Park Accommodation with activities such as adventure playground, crazy golf, basketball, kids’ club and swimming pool available to keep you entertained away from the rugby field and add to the weekend’s fun.

The evening entertainment programme has always proved very popular with our groups where you will be able to enjoy the varied acts provided by the holiday park in RJ’s which are included in your tour costs. The venue also offers arcades and a number of indoor activities which the children love and the onsite bar is always alive with laughter and rugby stories! If you don’t fancy cooking you can always use one of the many on site restaurants and take aways including Indian, Chinese, Fish and Chips, Pizza or traditional pub grub in the Tavern.

A great team bonding activity which would involve you working together to solve puzzles, find clues and complete challenges against the clock!

The Lost World Golf course consists of 36 hole course, adventuring across different territories and with many obstacles in the way! A great competitive and team building activity for the whole group, where you can also enjoy food and drink!
A Day At The Beach
While Looe Harbour is one of the most picturesque fishing villages in Cornwall.
Boats provide fishing trips from the harbour, as well as pleasure cruises around Looe Island, the bay and river.
Looe Island, now owned by Cornwall Wildlife Trust and managed as a nature reserve, is just offshore. There are boats from Looe Harbour to the island most days throughout the tourist season.
We can also offer similar accommodation at South Bay Holiday Park in Brixham which again is surrounded by excellent local attractions.
Excursions
Within a 100 metres from the sand dunes and next to your holiday park accommodation! A visit to the Brean Theme Park will be another highlight of the tour for all the family.
It has over 40 attractions including indoor and outdoor Roller Coasters, the Wild Water Log Flume, Dodgems, Crazy Boats, Wipe Out, the JetSpin, Waveswinger, and the UK’s best Ghost Train – Terror Castle! There really is something for all ages and all adrenaline levels.

The whole family will enjoy Brean Splash Waterpark. With a 25 metre, 6 lane, heated indoor swimming pool, and additional shallow baby pool. As well as a splash zone fun pool and slides, including indoor Rainbow Rings & Disco Waterslides. Choose your tune and sound effects whilst you ride the disco slide, warning flashing lights!
You’ll be spoilt for choice on whether to swim or play!

The Festival
The Festival One
The Rugby Festival will be hosted by Ivybridge Rugby Club, one of the leading clubs in Devon, with its Rugby 365 pitch which is one of the best pitches in the country. Over the weekend you can enjoy the rugby experience you want.
At the Festival you will be joined by other touring teams as well as Ivybridge and other local clubs to make for an enjoyable and memorable experience.

Once the rugby is complete you will join the other teams to enjoy the festival presentation which will take place on the clubhouse stage. Your group can make use of the large bar area and also enjoy the “Big Bash BBQ”, before returning to our accommodation.

Here your team will enjoy a fantastic day of rugby in Yorkshire’s largest rugby festival, playing against local and touring teams. The day will be arranged to ensure you teams plays as much rugby as possible
There will be food and drink facilities on site, and an awards presentation at the end of the event. This event has developed a reputation for friendly and quality rugby!
*Please note that entry is limited to a maximum of 3
squads per club for U7-U8’s, a maximum of 2 squads
per club for U9-U11’s and a maximum of 1 squad per
club for U12-U15’s.

Whilst at the festival enjoy some of the best food you will taste, thanks to Dozzer’s Smokehoue & Grill!
A family run business, Dozzer serves delicious Smoked Meat deli sandwiches, Burgers and Frankfurters. The meat is tender, bold and cooked to perfection with a secret blend of spices. All of the sandwiches maintain that distinct smoked flavour, after being prepared by using traditional blends of herbs, marinated and vacuum packed to lock in the flavour. Wash it down with a pint from the fully licenced clubhouse.

Raising Money for Charity
Rugby for Heroes works with the rugby community to raise funds and awareness for military personnel who are making the transition to civilian life. And they are committed to providing financial and personal support, to help individuals overcome the many challenges that this transition presents.
There are some obvious parallels that can be drawn between the UK’s Armed Forces and the sport of rugby – the traditions and core values of: leadership, teamwork, commitment, discipline, courage, respect, loyalty and camaraderie are all values in which the sport of rugby and the military unite behind and aspire to, and it is these values that RUGBY FOR HEROES champions.
Burleigh Travel are proud to be associated with such a valuable charity and for every person that travels with us to this event, a donation will be made.

Your group will have en-suite rooms, based on bed and breakfast and would have so many exciting opportunities right on your doorstep.
This option of a 2-night stay whilst away would allow your group to explore what the town has to offer and a host of activities such as mini golf, bowling, arcades, zip wire, volleyball and numerous shops. Not to mention the beach and pier in walking distance of your hotel, which will be great to keep the players entertained whilst they are away from the rugby pitch.

For those groups seeking some more high octane adventure you can enjoy The PierZip!
The world’s first pier to shore zip wire, boasting a 250 metre dual zip wire. The dual zip line means you can ride with family or team mates and challenge them to race to the shore! Launching from the Zip Tower platform 25mtrs above the sea, thrill-seekers race out and “zip surf” 250 meters over the top of the waves to land on the beach. A truly unique and unforgettable experience and a wonderful way to experience the amazing, panoramic view of Bournemouth and its stunning coast line!

Alternatively you can enjoy Europe’s largest virtual reality venue with 30 stations of the very best VR headsets with all the top titles available to play multiplayer or solo. Your whole group can play in the virtual worlds together. ‘Tower Tag’, ‘Assassin’s Creed’ Family Adventure experiences, and ‘Your

Sunday 12th April Mini’s Rugby (U7-U13)
Swanage & Wareham will host our main festival days in their magnificent facilities. On site there will be food stalls, music, a fully licenced bar as well as a warm welcome.
The Festival will run in accordance with the RFU age grade regulations which will ensure all teams play as much rugby as is permitted for your age group.
Spirit of Rugby awards will be presented for U7 through to U11, whilst Winner and Runner Up trophies will be up for grabs in the older age groups and all players will receive participation medals

When you are not playing at your main festival at Swanage & Wareham a full activity program will be arranged for guests staying at PGL to keep your
players busy in their spare time.
We do however appreciate some teams travel with large squads and maybe require two days of rugby, so you are welcome to take part in our Burleigh
Travel Tourist Trophy.
Please note that by participating in this event if you are staying at PGL, you will miss the morning activities.

This pledge has been honoured since the foundation of Burleigh Travel in 1998 and no client has suffered financial loss from such a failure.
Total Payment Protection (topp) Policy cover:
For non-flight packages, in compliance with The Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018, an insurance policy has been arranged with Travel & General Insurance Services Limited (T&G) to protect customers’ prepayments in the unlikely event of our financial failure and paid in respect of non-flight packages sold by the Policyholder as principal to the contract.
Please be aware, this protection will not be available if you arrange your own tour or if you book through a company not offering this type of cover.

How this is done is clearly displayed on our website so it is very important that you can see a clear statement on any other operators website on how they are protecting your money.
2. How Long Has The Company Been Trading?
An important consideration when deciding on who to book with, is how established the company is. Burleigh Travel was established in 1998 and have therefore been arranging rugby tours for almost 30 years and as such we are one of the longest standing providers and market leaders for mini and junior rugby tours. Don’t be fooled by new companies claiming they have many years experience in arranging tours; check when they were actually established, as every year there are several new companies set up and then disappear or offer substandard events so always check out their background and the customer feedback of their products. A very quick way to check whether the company you are planning to book with are well-established, is to check on the Companies House website where you can search for the company by name. In the Overview section, you can then check when they were established, if they have any overdue accounts warnings or strike off actions against them, and also the termination of appointments.
3. Customer Trustpilot & Google Reviews
We pride ourselves on the excellent feedback we have received from previous clubs like yourselves and currently have over 250 five star Trustpilot reviews which can be found here and over 130 five star Google reviews here. We feel these clubs are very reflective of your own group and consequently should help install confidence in the service you will receive from Burleigh Travel. We would urge you to be very cautious of booking with anyone who does not have a similar amount of recent five-star reviews on these two key sites or if they do not even have a Trustpilot or Google review site registered.
4. RFU Approval
Last season all our UK Festivals were approved by the RFU and have been fully risk assessed, this is not the case with many other rugby festivals so please check with the county where the event is being held to see if permission was granted last season and if it’s likely to be granted again before making a booking.
