After spending the first weekend of April in Bournemouth, we headed up North to our second end of season festival in South Yorkshire.
We would just like to thank all those who attend the Dearne Valley Easter Festival and our hosts Sandal RFC. Well done to all those who took part, there was some great rugby across all the junior age groups.
To kick things off the U13’s took part in a 7 team event which included both local and touring teams. It was a strong performance from the Northern teams with local side Otley winning the age group and host club Sandal coming runners-up!
The U14’s had a lot to play for, as with it being a 8 team event, the squads battled it out in the group stages to determine if they were in the running for the cup or the plate in the final round. After some excellent rugby, touring side Old Pats were crowned Cup Winners, with Lymm coming runners-up. York came out on top for the the plate final, with Sandal coming runners-up.
The U15’s once again saw a mix of both local and touring teams, with two touring teams coming out on top to claim the prizes, first place by Gravesend and second place by North Berwick.
Finally the U16’s played some brilliant rugby and once again two touring teams, Worcester Vikings (1st place) and Old Cranleighans (2nd place) were presented the trophies.
Whilst off the rugby pitch the groups were kept occupied and all enjoyed a full programme of activities, including raft building and high ropes, as well as the live entertainment in the evening and the all inclusive meals!
We would just like to take the time again to thank all those who took part and supported us over the past few years. We are really pleased many of you finally managed to get away on your rugby tour and we hope to see you again next year!
