October Half Term Sport Tours
Thinking about starting next season with a sports tour? Why not try and get a tour organised for October Half Term?
You may have not managed to get a sports tour organised for this current season, or you may have had such a great time on your last tour you can’t wait untill next year to go on tour again and so October Half Term would be an ideal time to organise your team’s next sports tour.
Why travel in the October Half Term for your next Sports Tour?
Planning a sport tour for the start of the season can be a great boost for all involved. October half term sport tours can be ideal for teams who want to really bond on tour and become a united team before the season really gets underway. Players will get the chance to reconnect with team mates, which they may have not seen over the summer, or even make new friends with new members who have joined the team. Starting the season with a tour during October Half term can generate a great team atmosphere for the rest of the season; so if this is something you are interested in doing for your team why not enquire now and get Burleigh Travel to help organise your October half term sport tour.
You may wish to only travel for 3 or 4 days in the October Half Term but during this short time away a lot can be done. As it is during the school holidays, most players should be available to come along, so playing a couple of friendly fixtures on tour will give your whole team the chance to practise set plays and formations which have been practised in training. Having the opportunity to practise what has been learnt at training in a game situation can be the difference between winning and losing in important games when you return from tour.
Another advantage of travelling in the October half term is that you do not need to try and find dates that work around your players exams. A lot of teams, especially U16-U18 teams struggle to get away on tour at the end of the season due to GCSE, AS-level and A-level exams being their priority. October half term is an ideal time to go on a sports tour without interupting any studies.
Team Bonding during an October Half Term Sport Tour
An October half term sports tour is not just about the time spent on the pitch though, it is also about bonding as a team and creating great team morale. On many tours the highlight can be the additional activities the group do, rather than the fixtures they play. We do advise that with any organised October half term sports tour that other activities, that can be used as team building exercises, are incorporated into the tour.
Suggested Sports Tour Location
To have an enjoyable, successful October half term sports tour you do not have to travel far and sometimes a UK tour can provide an amazing tour for all involved. One location we suggest visiting is Croft Farm Water Park in Tewskesbury, Gloucestershire. This park has the ideal set up for tour groups with lots of cabins to accommodate large groups, a lake house clubhouse for meals and entertainment, water sport activities on site for the group to take part in and also there are plenty of things to do in the surrounding area as the park is close to both Gloucester and Cheltenham.
The activities that are available at the park include raft building, sailing, canoeing, katakanuing and banana boating, all which would be great fun for the group and also great team building activities. Burleigh travel is located in Gloucestershire and so we feel it would provide a fantastic destination for your tour as the area offers numerous activities for the boys to enjoy when not playing rugby and as we are based locally to Tewkesbury we have extensive knowledge of the best places to visit and have well-established links with local rugby clubs.
Rugby Tours in October Half Term
A popular format for a rugby tour is to combine a tour with watching a professional fixture. Some examples of destinations where your group could do this would be Gloucestershire, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Dublin and Leicester, all of which are fantastic rugby tour destinations.
For example if your team were to tour to Gloucestershire there would be the opportunity of watching a professional game at either Gloucester at Kingsholm Stadium, or Worcester at Sixways Stadium, subject to fixture schedules. Many groups who have toured to Gloucestershire in the past have found this to be a real highlight of their tour and something we would definitely recommend.
So if you think your team would benefit from an October half term sports tour please enquire as we would be more than happy to help arrange a memorable tour.
