This year sees the launch of the Grit Gym Bognor Rugby Sevens Tournament and we woudllike to give you the opportunity to be a part of this on your next rugby tour. It promises to be a great spectacle with upwards of 40 rugby teams expected to take part while being cheered on by an estimated 400 spectators. The inaugural event will take place on Saturday 7th May and see rugby teams compete in ‘Social’, ‘Serious’ and ‘Ladies’ categories so there really will be something for every rugby team.
This event will be open to local teams but is also ideal for end of season Rugby Tours; providing a welcome change after a long season of the 15-a-side game and a chance for backs and forwards alike to play some running rugby after such a wet season.
Rugby Sevens Takes Centre Stage
Rio 2016 is now on the horizon and the Olympic Sevens Tournament is set to take centre stage at the worlds sporting showpiece in Brazil. With the likes of Sonny Bill Williams, Quade Cooper and Bryan Habana giving Sevens a try, maybe it’s time your club gave it a go too! This year’s rugby tour is a great opportunity for this.
Leading grass roots rugby tour operator Burleigh Travel will partner Bognor RFC in arranging the event and packages will be available including transport, camping and tournament entry. This will take the work away from your club’s tour organiser allowing you to enjoy the off field attractions at the event including a Beer Festival, Rodeo Bull and of course Beer Pong!
Prizes will be available for Cup Winners as well as for ‘Stash-of-the-Day’ with the social side of things being taken just as seriously as the rugby. DJ’s will be playing throughout the day to provide a party atmosphere before the live bands and Hawaiian fancy dress take over for the evening’s fetsivities.
