Budapest, Hungary’s capital city, sits on the Danube River and has become one of the most popular European destinations. With an incredible nightlife, including the thermal spa parties, Budapest offers an unforgettable weekend! The University of Stirling spent 4 nights in this amazing city on their rugby tour.
They set off from Edinburgh airport on Thursday morning and arrived in Budapest at lunchtime. After a short coach ride to their hostel they had the afternoon and evening to explore Budapest’s famous nightlife.
The next day was free for the team to explore (and recover from the night before). There is so much to see and do in the city that a couple of free days are always recommended on a tour here. Making the most of your location is the key to a successful tour. There are beer tours and cruises, thermal spas, castles and countless historical sites.
On Saturday the guys had their tour fixture against Budapest Exiles RFC. After a good game of rugby which Stirling won, they had some great posy match hospitality with plenty of beer and food. They then had the evening free to explore more of the nightlife.
The next day the team had free to fit in some more sightseeing. The different cruises offered in Budapest are very popular. There are beer, wine or food cruises that offer a fantastic view of the city while enjoying complimentary drinks and/or food. Or the famous thermal baths are a great day out, and at night become a club!
