Junior Rugby Tour to Toulouse

Winscombe RFC U17’s enjoyed a fantastic rugby tour to Toulouse in the Midi-Pyrenees region of France, experiencing the cultural history and rugby mad culture that this vibrant city offers.

There are rugby clubs aplenty in this French Rugby hotbed and Winscombe RFC U17’s experienced fantastic hospitality at both Toulouse Athletic Club and AS Tournefeuille. At Toulouse Athletic Club the boys were able to sing the national anthem prior to the game giving it a truly International feel! This galavanised the teams in to action and produced a highly competitive game with Winscombe running out winners courtesy of some late tries. Both teams then proceeded to enjoy one anothers company for hours after the game with food and drink provided by the hosts with lots of singing and games enjoyed by all!

While on rugby tour in Toulouse the group had a chance to experience some of the sights on offer including the magnificent architecture of ‘Le Capitole’ and Saint-Serning Basilica. The boys also enjoyed some of the wide ranging activities available including karting and paintballing for the more active members while those keen on enjoying a more relaxing time undertook a boat cruise and a tour of the Airbus factory.

Every one of the group commented that this tour would be well remembered for years to come for the ideally located accommodation close to the city centre with its variety of restaurants and activities and especially for the fantastic welcome from their French hosts. The French clubs are even looking to come to Winscombe for a tour themselves!
